We were awkward at first, but then it was ok
What might it mean to collaborate with someone or something? We were awkward at first, but then it was ok prods this question with imagined collaborators taking the form of bubble wrap, memory foam, a personal fan and a plastic chair. Through a series of actions that play with anthropomorphization, utility and meta-narrative, the performance delves into the image of oneself in relation. It engages the heavy in the light and the magical in the daily, constructing and breaking codes of intimacy. We were awkward at first, but then it was ok subverts the tensions inherent in collaboration while attempting a reckoning with the function of objects in performance.
